Navigating Instagram: A Guide to Understanding the Rules and Avoiding “Insta-jail

Posted on January 11, 2023January 20, 2023

Instagram is a powerful tool for creators to share their content and connect with their audience, but it also comes with limitations that can be frustrating at times.

In this blog post, we will go over the various restrictions that Instagram imposes on accounts to prevent damage caused by hackers and spammers, and how understanding these rules can help you avoid getting “insta-jailed.”

As you may know, Instagram limits the number of accounts you can follow and unfollow, as well as the number of likes and comments you can make, in order to prevent spammy behavior. For example, if you have a new account, Instagram will likely restrict you from following or unfollowing more than 30 accounts per hour and 100 accounts per day. Similarly, there are limits on the number of likes and comments you can make per hour and per day.

It’s important to keep in mind that these limits can vary depending on the age and size of your account, as well as your follower count. For example, older and more established accounts may be able to follow or unfollow more accounts per hour than a new account, and those accounts that are more active also benefit from this.

To avoid getting “insta-jailed,” it’s important to be mindful of these limits, especially when you’re just starting out on Instagram. By following the rules, you can avoid getting banned and start building a solid foundation for your account. Here are some tips on how to do this:

  • Limit your following and unfollowing to 30 accounts per hour and 100 accounts per day.
  • Limit your likes to 100-150 per hour and 300-500 per day, and wait 15-30 seconds between likes to avoid triggering any flags.
  • Limit your comments to 200 per day and 50 per hour.

It’s also worth noting that Instagram doesn’t actually publish its limits publicly, so most of the information out there is based on the experiences of users. With that being said, following these guidelines should help you avoid any problems and allow you to focus on growing your account.

In conclusion, Instagram’s limitations can be frustrating, but they also serve an important purpose in preventing damage caused by hackers and spammers. By understanding the rules and being mindful of the limits, you can avoid getting “insta-jailed” and build a strong and successful account.
